El Carajo International Tapas & Wine

2465 SW 17th Ave
(Inside Citgo gas station)
Coral Gables, FL 33145

Website
Some of the best tapas in Miami can be found in a gas-station convenience store at the corner of South Dixie Highway and SW Seventeenth Avenue. Past the shelves of motor oil, sodas, and potato chips is El Carajo. This thoroughly charming wine and tapas bar features a 2000-bottle wine list and a roster of tapas and main plates almost as extensive. Even better, wine and food are exceptional values. A bottle of wine with your meal costs retail plus ten bucks, tapas are almost all less than $10, and the $18 tabla de carne — an assortment of grilled skirt steak, lamb and pork chops, chicken breast, sausages, potatoes, and roasted peppers — will easily feed three hungry diners. Also check out the generous salpicón de mariscos and intensely garlicky gambas al ajillo; then finish with a rich, creamy guanabana flan.
