Jewish Salsa

Sometimes cultures don’t mix. Picture Barry Manilow and Daddy Yankee trapped in a dark room; only one would survive. Luckily for every South Floridian, the large Hispanic and Jewish communities commingle. With Jews the world over settling here, Miami is a mini-Israel of sorts — albeit one with nude beaches. How could Jewish immigrants resist the allure of the Latin community’s salsa beat? The result is music that would make Manilow and Daddy Yankee crazy with envy. Experience the harmony of two cultures at the Guava Rugelach Festival.
