Delivering the Money Shot

By JOSE D. DURAN

Published on April 03, 2008

After debuting last year at Pawn Shop Lounge, the crassly named Money Shot party quickly became one of the city’s best Thursday-night events. Many folks were bewildered when the party moved to South Beach’s Love Hate Lounge, a venue far too small to contain the considerable wallop the weekly bash delivered. However, after a short hiatus, Money Shot is back to prove it’s still, um, well, you get it. The party returns tonight to downtown’s newest venue, The Vagabond, as its only outsourced party.

Promoters Xavier Burt and Jake Jefferson are ready to reclaim their Thursday-night throne by providing the city with a credible party that isn’t so much about VIP crowds as it is about having a good time. With it returns the kind of open-format, hip-hop, and dance music goodness that made it an instant success. Los Angeles DJ Blu Jemz, along with longtime resident mixmasters Induce and Contra, will be on hand to welcome back partygoers. The event is free before midnight, 10 bucks after.
